Moving in
Moving in
You may move into your new apartment at 12.00 (noon) on your first day of rental. If this day is a Saturday, Sunday or other public holiday, you must wait until the next weekday before moving in.
Please bring with you the following. It is important that you bring everything according to the list. If not, we can unforturtunately not hand you the keys!
- Passport/ID card
- Your part of the tenancy agreement
- The receipt for the rent payment
- The admission letter from the university
- Certified letter of authorization, if necessary
Keys
The keys to your apartment may be collected at your local office from 12.00 (noon) on your first day of rental. If you are unable to pick up the the keys, you can use a letter of authorization. If you have got the keys from the previous tenant earlier than the contract stipulates you can not complain about the cleaning, or claim compensation for cleaning.
Tenants moving into the following areas:
Ostkupan - keys are collected at the Ostkupan local office
Lindholmsallén, Ceres, Ekbacka - keys are collected at the local office at Lindholmsallén.
Kviberg and Brahegatan - keys are collected at the local office in Kviberg.
Inspection
Your new apartment has been inspected. Log on to "My pages" and under "Inspection" you will find more information. Here is our inspection report (SGS Besiktning) and the tenant's inspection which you must fill in (Hyresgästens besiktning).
Untidy apartments
No cleaning inspection is made between the moving-out inspection and the time you move in. It is therefore vital that you contact us at once if you are unhappy with the move-out cleaning of the previous tenant. In order to assess the cleaning, we will have to look at it.
Fittings
If your apartment is furnished you find an inventory list in your moving-in information for you area. Check that everything on the list is in your apartment. Textiles, e.g. curtains and shower curtains are not included in the furnishing, nor are light bulbs or kitchenware.
For more information see respective area.
Conditions for renting a flat
On moving in you have to prove that you are a student or that you have applied for university education in Gothenburg.
You are required to obtain a minimum of fifteen points/marks per term/semester, according to the new university point system, during the period of the lease. (Exception: doctoral candidates). The maximum period of lease is sex years. Extension can be granted with a maximum of four years for doctoral studies.
After finishing your studies you have to be prepared to move. If you have special reasons, you may apply for exemption from the study requirements.
If you should not be admitted to the University of Gothenburg, you will be released from the contract with a week’s notice. We need a written notice and a copy of the negative reply from the Board of Admission. Please note that this rule only applies to the newly signed contracts, not if you already rent a flat from SGS Studentbostäder.
